Stop Smoking Without Getting Fat – Part I
Do you light your first smoke five minutes after you wake up? And then you continue to smoke throughout the day? Even when you are ill? Then this has to change now.
I know that deep inside, you want to quit smoking. It’s just that you can’t find the power of will that you need. Combined with the fact, that if you stop smoking, you will put on weight… quitting seems even more unattractive.
But as with all things, there is a right way to quit smoking. A way, that will help you forget about cigarettes forever without putting on a single pound of weight.
First let’s find out why it is normal to put on weight after you have quit smoking. The reason is simple. Cigarettes kill your appetite, and make you eat less. They also burn calories – if you smoke a pack a cigarettes, that’s the equivalent of taking an hour-long walk every day. You can see why smoking helps you stay in shape.
We also use cigarettes to keep ourselves busy throughout the day. Because if we don’t have a smoke, we will go for a pack of chips, a box of chocolates or any other junk food we see. And when we quit smoking, our calorie intake goes through the roof. The problem is obvious.
Smoking is by no means healthy. Yes, it burns energy, but at what cost?
The first thing you can do is to find a replacement for the nicotine. You taught your body to need nicotine every day, and now you need to teach it not to need it anymore. The process is slow, and you can achieve it with nicotine bubble gums and patches.
Then you start slowly to cut down on the number of patches you need throughout the day. After two weeks or so, you should feel no cravings for nicotine.
The next step is to start exercising. People eat food, when they feel their energy is low. And if you don’t show your body you need energy, it won’t give it to you. If you exercise just two times every week, this will make you a lot more energetic. It will help you lose weight, and it will make you forget you ever were addicted to smoking.
By exercising you will also sweat intensively. This will get out of the body all the toxins it holds. And since you were a smoker a while ago, this will make you feel a lot better about non-smoking.
